Thinkable Thoughts

Mortality is a reality,
My morality is something I question day by day.
As feelings that govern the heart,
start to chip away,
the membrane of protection,
that allows the heart to beat,
for my blood to run warm,
& the oxygen of hope to help me breath.
My ethical code at times,
have no rhyme or reason,
to decisions I come to,
like a clock that ticks but don't tock,
like a clear lake that is still but appears rippled,
& a sun that rises but never shines.
I can smile, looking at my life in pictures,
from birth laying in my mothers arms,
to now a grown woman,
looking for a man with that fairy tale charm,
to meet me at the end of the aisle,
& say I will love you forever.
Now you can take off those shackles,
as we walk into the sunset,
arm in arm.
