THIS TIME

THIS TIME

I didn't see your heart there
As I walked out today
I never meant to kick it
It just got in my way
I didn't see your heart there

As I went through the door
It was only when I slipped In blood
That I saw it on the floor
I never meant to crush it
But some things can't be changed
I never meant to damage it
Or cause it so much pain
I never meant to break it
And it's hard for me to bear
The sight of it so battered
Cracked, just lying there
But I'm sure you can mend it
With work and care and time
And I'm sorry that it's your heart
But so glad that it's not mine
This time.
