Poem -

This Veil

This Veil,
This hostile thing.
Displaying intelligence and solace,
Entertaining peoples aspirations,
Feeding their satisfaction.
Unveiling happiness-
It’s sparkling lace.
Covering me.

Me? But who am I?
The thing is: no one knows.
Nobody:
It’s opacity is much too dismal.
The fabric is yet so thin but too cloudy for anyone to notice.
To notice me.
Me.
This mantle is so bright -
Brightness blinding me but showering on others.
So ambiguous-
Constantly shifting so that no one could guess?
So strong -
But encasing my sadness.
Wrapping me in a soft blanket -

This content stocked mask:
Allowing me to hide:
Hiding these painful thoughts.
Painful to me to harbour,
Painful for those who hear it.
To hear the pain I feel,
The torture I endure.
I’d rather hide.
Hide from the people,
The pain,
Everything.

But one day I’ll take the veil off:
And they’ll know:
They’ll see my sadness
They’ll see my pain
They’ll see me.
Me.
