Poem -

thoughts from the sky

It would be so easy to jump
 in to the
Whiteness.
Pale brightness.
Smashed glass.
Watch me fall.
An anchor.
An anchor.
Follows us through the sky.
Iron hooks welded
to melting gums.
I can hear them on your breath.
The song of lead.
Echoing poison.
Pulsing.
Pulsing.
Blood in your teeth.
The past snaps like dental floss,
and I,
am no better off than I was
 on the ground.
The faces.
The faces.
The ones that burn
behind my tired eyes.
Staining my sleep.
The ones I already know.
Walking the aisle.
Smiles and smiles.
And I,
am still
 fine.
You are you.
And I am I.
Even kilometres high.
A plateau of snow.
White as life.
Horizontal line.
Bright blue.
There is no one to replace you.
