Three Cheers, Three Terms

Three Cheers, Three Terms

The first time I saw Barack Obama, was the Democratic Convention, Two Thousand Four;

The year the Republicans rigged the election, and robbed our poor Al Gore!

He gave a speech that rocked me, and shook my loving heart;

I thought this this could be the first man of color, for a White House job to start!

Then four years later, my prediction had come true;

He won the nomination to run for President, and I said, “Barack, I’m there with you”!

And then we made great history, for a black man now was Pres.;

At his inauguration they sang him the Etta James song, “At Last” is what it says!

Hi inherited quite a deficit, from the inept man who came before;

Who took our country to the brink of  depression, just to finish Daddy’s war!

Wall Street was in dire trouble, large lenders, shaky too;

And the automotive industry was tanking, no one could figure what to do!

Somehow with Republicans plotting against him, he got his “Bail-Out” passed;

For he said “There’s no way I will allow this, I’ll save them very fast”!

Then thanks to him they prospered, and paid back all their loans;

He saved us from depression, almost single-handedly, alone!

I think he’s one of the five greatest Presidents, this country’s ever had;

So I say “Three Cheers, Barack Obama”, but I’m also very sad!

For he’s finished now his last term, but I wish I was able say;

This November you’ll seek your third term, and, I’ll vote for you, that day!

Five stars from me on this one my Larry. I love your political pieces because you always manage to teach me so much about your country and you clearly put your viewpoint over very well. I was thrilled when Barack became the USA`s first black president and I could clearly see the pride the nation has for that special historical time, it has been a long hard fight for equality but you all got there in the end and I think it`s a shame that he`s going, he`s worked so hard for you all. Is there any chance that he may be voted in again?

Well done sweetie

I love you both

Hi Dear G,

No, sweetie, the last President that was able to have multiple terms above two, was FDR.   After him, Congress passed a term limit of two.  But you can bet your sweet bippie, that if that were not the case, he would sail to his third Presidency in a landslide!  It is so meaningful to us that you take such an interest in our Country!  Linda and I have been studying the history of yours, for many years.  In fact, Linda is now in the process of reading, "The Autobiography of Henry VIII with notes by his fool, Will Somers".  It is a novel by Margaret George and is almost 1,000 pages.  As for me, ever since I saw the Oscar winning performance by your great British actor, "Paul Scofield", in the movie, "A Man For All Seasons", I have been delving into the unbelievable history of your great country.  By the way, in that movie, I also discovered the man who would turn out to be my favorite actor in the world, "The Great Robert Shaw".  It is amazing how closely connected Linda, Georgina and Larry are!
