Poem -

Till Death Do Us Part

‘Till death do us part’.
Till death or the ghosts of our past come to haunt us.
The hands of time will carry on turning,
whilst I am stuck where I lost myself.

Young, naive and stupid.
One mistake, caught in the thrill of young love.
I decided to ignore the dangers.
How quickly the word love can change to regret.

I regret what I have done.

In my ignorance I ignored the issue,
Now my mistake has come back to haunt me.
I wish I could turn back time and undo those stupid mistakes,
But I can’t.

Life will carry on.
I let everyone down,
It’s strange how quickly the word love,
Can change regret.

I regret what I have done

I will be constantly reminded of my mistake,
In the silence of my home,
The absence of my lover
The emptiness in my chest.

‘Till death do us part’,
Or until the hands of time stop turning.
