A Time For Daniel (My grandson kill by a drunk driver, while here illigally)
The world is colorful..While I am not..
For deep within...The color has been lost..
Mid the memories of his hundred years..
That did not last...So Long ‾ Too far..
Beyond a day...Waiting for another...
While the dreams from the heels ‾
Of the spurs...Take a giant step...
Mid the sighs of an ocean...
Between the arms of a peaceful plan...
In exchange...Of a young boy...
That was much more then a man...
While the world grows old...
Pondering ‾ Great and Proud...
Now that thee are part of where...
We come from... Give us back...
What we all need to know and see..
Your eyes full of love..Watching over us..
In memory of Daniel Patrick Turner...
A fourteen year old... Taken from us..
As a man ‾ To give us a light to follow..
'Pon our ears and eyes..Mid our soul..
When I met you...There were trees..
Amongst the meadows filling the streams.
And there was a sky..Over the mountains..
That breathed its air.. Warming the valleys.
As all of nature... Danced as a mate..
And now that you are gone..
You are a part of all of these things..
That I have lived.... And would die for....

oh my god john this is so sad at that age or any for that matter taken away like that i have a grandson too and is something i fear happening people like the driver always get off too easy and the family left behind are scarred for life.your poem to him is amazing and im sure he feels your love as a grandfather

He and a friend had walked up a store in the country, and a car pulled that maxed out with power and color... Daniel walked up to him and was all excited about the car... and told the man that was driving it, how he couldn't believe how beautiful it was and told him how powerful and fast it must be.. Afterwards, the two boys bought what they were sent there for, and started walking home...Om the wrong side of the road...
The driver took off from the store (Showing off his car) And within a short distance he had it going really fast.. Problem is.. He lost control of the car... and Ran over Daniel and when through bushes and well into someone's yard.. with Daniel underneath.. He man had just bought the car, and had no insurance plus he was in country illegally. He took off running but they did find him.. I think he got about 7 years, and was going deported after his time served...

Tis a cruel world out their.. with very little respect or understanding.. He didn't even stop to see if he was ok or not.. The keep him alive for several day.. Though he was brain dead.. His organs were donated. So at least part of him is still living...In many that would have died without them..
