Poem -

TIME FOR TEA

He lands on my lawn and patiently waits
Sometimes for variety he lands on my gates
Wherever he is so very patient is this bird
No tune from his beak and not saying a word

The reason for his patience is clear to me
He is wondering what he will be having for tea
Freshly dug worm or out of date bread
Such a difficult choice it has to be said

I scatter the bread onto the freshly cut lawn
Inside is a treat for him I have added some corn
The bird has noticed that tea is now served
No longer a patient bird no longer reserved

This bird now has bread attached to his beak
Highlight no doubt for him of a very busy week
I noticed he had twigs and straw making a nest
Glad I'm sure of eating and a well deserved rest
