Tiny Fingers

Tiny fingers aching

As I reach your way,

Other small hands, come to stay

I wish I was them

Padding through the puddles of innocence

Of climbing trees

And make believe

My tiny fingers ache to say hello.

But I know

Boyfriends

And high school

And first kisses

Come too soon

But my tiny fingers still ache for you

Childhood

I’m not good at goodbyes

And neither are you.
