To Rest

Time to wind down the speed of my typing and dim the rhythm of my breathing

Time to put these toys out of my head
These yelping dogs and crying kittens
And get myself tucked into bed

Every night is a trip to rehab
Dreams defrag the words unknitted and left hanging
Darkness erases epiphanies aborted in the daylight

I switch off my senses and their sensuality
Meditate on a nonexistent present without stimuli
And drift into the cliche of a battery recharge

Hopefully if I fail to return to my addiction
I will have left behind a worthy legacy of poetic ecstasy

The fish of the sea

Hey Man, if it brings you peace and relief in your life then dont stop! I always read your work and love it my friend. Meditation helps me also. Keeps my sleep regular and calms me... peace to you my friend, wherever and whenever you read this. (I expect closer than you might think ;)

Thanks for the kind sentiment. The poem wasn't about retiring beyond the night. I was literally exhausted and had to get up early for work this morning so had to use a poem to help me "let go" of all the ideas bouncing around in my head. Lol... And that will be the theme of my next piece... stay tuned hahahaha
