TODAY IN A BUCKET OF YESTERDAY

TODAY IN A BUCKET OF YESTERDAY

today in a bucket of yesterday, strewn about the place, displaced and average always
like a cold soup in a spoon… strumming guitars that sip the moon
all the way tossed into your lawn.

II

Time has broken your back and the actual scar you savor
is a truculent wound your prayers forgot to heal.
her purpose in your heart
a more perfect steel
for swords too sharp
to wield.

III

so

teacups and avarice, walk into a bar…
the priest says “ I’ll have an unbearable life “
the god says…

it’ll cost ya.

but alright. She's yours.
