Poem -

Tolerance

You saw my skin and turned away
You judged my looks but that's okay.
You thought you knew me from just one glance,
before you decided to give me a chance.

You saw me kiss that girl last week
and now you label me a freak.
To be myself is not allowed,
To be myself won't make you proud.

All the thoughts that i express
shouldn't make you love me less,
But I'll keep my thoughts inside my head.
I take back all the things I said.

Today I prayed to the lord above
and sent him all my thanks and love.
But just because you don't believe
Doesn't mean you had to leave.

Tolerance is kindness that comes from inside
and that is one thing that I must abide.
White, black, gay or straight
Poor, mental, religious, weight,

We're all our own person, and that we can change,
Our faces, our skin colour, we cannot rearranged.
Society is hurtful, like the sting of a bee
Will anyone ever tolerate me?

This is amazing. I am a lesbian myself and can really relate. Great work.
