Poem -

Truth Be Told

Her life looks happy but her heart is sad
People don’t realize what’s she been thru or never had
These things might seem small but add up over time
15 years of bottling it up all inside

She’s moved 17 times and hasn't called a place home
So in fear of grieving she doesn't love new at all
People have hurt her people have lied
And their comments will follow her til the day she dies

Some days are better some days are worse
Her mom says her β€œbad days don’t compare to most”
But in reality hidden beneath her fake smile
Her bad days are torture and she feels lost in hell’s tides

She’ll fight her tears from dawn til dark
Then she’ll slice her skin to stop feeling within
And the mirror plays tricks on her mind you see
From β€œwhy did I eat?” to β€œam I even me?”
The pain IS real but β€œis it real?”
Because others have it worse so she must conceal

They simply wouldn’t understand if she said β€œI’m not okay”
So she’ll put on her smile and roll down her sleeves
It’s time to pretend yet another day
