Turkish Cheesecake

Turkish Cheesecake

Turkish Cheesecake

it's strawberry cheesecake,
she smiles.
in Hisaronu.

I hoped it would be..
not another mountain.

it wobbles on the plate
like rice flour syllabub..
junket..blamonge..
but not cheesecake.

there are no strawberries..
Just a salmon pink sauce,
and I'm expected to eat it
out of respect, of course.

I can't eat it..
I was expecting Strawberry
Cheesecake..
and my entire gut has
clamped shut
in protest..

and I feel such a slave
to my pre conceptions
and privileged past..

the mountains I have made
myself climb are vast
