TURN THE PAGE

When you arrived I cried happy tears,
for I had not seen you in fifthteen years.
We have a lot of catching up to do,
you have two grandkids that really love.
Your life has been quite an adventure you say,
that your writing a book without any delay.
You talked about the places that you've been,
and all the great people you've met in between.
There is one place that you really enjoyed,
the friends that you made were not all employed.
They took you in cause they're all the same,
getting to know you by your first name.
Watching ships pass on by til sundown,
it's a place that you called Rivertown.
You will read all about it in my new book,
you will see when you take a look.
After your visit it was time to leave,
I know you'll be back I just have to believe.
We drove around and talked a lot,
listened to music it was great I thought.
There's one song I played that you really liked,
it's called turn the page you were so psyched.
Your life was like the song that was playing,
turn the page you kept on saying.
It'll be another chapter in your new book,
turn the page and take a look.
A couple of years have passed on by,
when I hear that song it makes me cry.
As I watch the sun go down,
wondering if your in Rivertown..........

This poem is about my dad. I love you.
Angela…this is a wonderful poem about discovery, reconnecting and promises made and not kept. I hope that your dad has written his life's work down and he returns to you and his grandchildren and turns the page on your present heartache. Well done.
