Twenty Days-Twenty Years

Eighteen years ago this date, you were a pup 21 days old;
Nursing with your litter mates, your life began unfold!
Two months later you had grown so, and your breeder ran an ad;
Offering Bichon Friese pups for sale, six of them she had!

Mommy was the first to come there, and the moment she saw you;
She felt her heart go “bonkers”, she fell in love so true!
I was on a real long road trip, so she called me right away;
She said she had to have you, and bought you the next day!
.
I came home a few weeks later, a little nervous you to meet;
But the moment that I walked in, you rushed at me to greet!
You jumped into your Daddy’s lap, smothering my face with sweetest kiss;
In that moment, I knew we were Soulmates, and would share a life of bliss!

I vowed that you would live long, purest water and healthy meals;
I had visions of you being twenty, but Fate so early did you steal!
For five months before you were fourteen, you had to leave my side;
For four and one-half years now, so often have I cried!
.
Because you brought me to Nirvana, and showed me Buddha’s path;
Now without you, my Soul is broken, and my heart is filled with wrath!
I’m so angry about your longevity, and how early you had to leave;
Far too soon, I lost my Soulmate, now forever do I grieve!
