Tyrian Purple
So rare was this ancient dye
That many men spent their entire lives
In the preparation and protection of its secrets
If they would dare even think to wear this color
They would be flogged and left to die..
Mined from a mollusk, made into weaves
It became the most valuable commodity
That the world had ever seen,
From the banks of the Mediterranean Sea
It became the symbol of the Roman elite
The apex color, of Roman society
The cloth of power and wealth
Dating to 1600 B.C...
Its value today, will blow you away
When I tell you ~ 2000 dollars per gram
Worth more than gold
Tyrian Purple,
The most powerful color,
The world has ever seen..

I throughly enjoyed being educated about Tyrian Purple. I didn't know that it's still so valuable. I didn't know that it came from mollusks. But what happened to Royal Blue? LOL!

It came from mollusks along the Mediterranean coastline..... it's a really interesting historical read if you should ever decide to look into it...... So hard to discover, it exists in such dirth
Four thousand years since it first came to light
Rich Romans it treasured, the hue of their might
Today on the market, its value yet soars
Much higher than gold, still has its' allure
But we here on Cosmo, have one more priceless than that
To you Tony Taylor, we take off our hats
For who else would bring us these facts few would know
Each time that we read you, our knowledge vast grows

Mr T my man, enjoyed reading this so very much, but my mind went of on an almighty tangent .... you see .... I can appreciate the colour purple and know that her true heart's value is the greatest the world had ever known. Forgive me my brother, for drifting off, but, the colour purple does that to me. I loved it! It's such a coincidence that I ran into this piece, since I just learned about how the phonesians discovered this color and used it for trade. I love purple and it belongs as a royal color, for I feel it is one of the purest of colors. Amazing work!
