Undivine Intervention

(A Lament)

Can we hate Grace?
What is so amazing about letting us fall and break?

How is permitting a bird to fly into a glass window an act of love?

You whisper things like,

"You probably don't want to be doing that."

Sometimes if you are more caring you'll chant, "Please don't do that," in a more pressing tempo

But can't you just remind me what I do want to do, and perhaps a little sooner?

I get it; there is some test going on...
to see if my love for you is faithful

Well, clearly it's not; which is why I need grace:

that double-sided basket case that holds me here from the first place,

like family you don't choose
(I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't...

embrace your grace)
