Unhappy Reflection

Crying, was the way she dealt
It seemed so simple, so sweet
Until I felt, what she was dealing Came pouring down on me
The simple pleasures
Were not so sweet
The closer I got, the less It mattered
I was done playing in this idleness
And although the walls were plastered
The paint peeled, and made the room smaller
And her charm just faded, into the foyer
Of the home itself, where I laid my head to dream
And in that dream, of her perfection
I was smothering the things that mattered
In love, and simple kindness shared
I saw myself her doormat
As though I became a shadow
Whenever her true love was near
And so I conceded
That in her dealings
I was the man without feelings
When all the time, the thing she loved
Was an addictive personality
Which she could not find
In me
I knew that crying, was the way she dealt
I blurted out, "Go to hell"
And in that unkind gesture, I began
To see what it was, she needed
A man of steel, who could not feel
And that man, was not me
I packed my bags, and feelings too
Headed off to pursue, the you
That I'd reflected..........
