Unknown soldier

Unknown soldier

We lost you in the war

We lost you in the dark

We lost you when we could not find you

As it is left us undoubtedly raw

We have lost your soul

    Your soft touch

  When you joined the Army

      We missed you very much

With every letter that you wrote

  Every heartbeat which we heard

We dreamt of you no matter how remote

Every time we looked in the sky

.....and saw a bird

We lost you in the shadows

We lost you on the shores

In the silence of the gallows

    This battle does implore

We lost you
