Unrequited Love

I was love with a boy
He seduced me with his charm
Whispering sweet nothings as he held me in his arms
When he held me this way it seemed as if nothing could do me harm
But you and I already know exactly how this story goes
As we've lived through the same heartbreak every time
Something had changed but what it was I had no clue
Last night I got my answer but I still don't know what to do
As it turns out my beautiful boy was never truly mine
His heart has belonged to another for quite some time
The agony that followed has no equal nor are there any words to describe it
After everything we've gone through you'd think I'd have learned by now
But I let his sweet words cloud my thoughts and break my walls down
I've put them back up but all I feel is pain
There isn't any type of barricade I could make to keep it at bay
Instead I let it consume me and I drown in my unrequited love
And so the story ends without a happy ending in sight
Of a stupid, foolish girl and the boy she loved with all her might
