Unsettled

Beginning to feel just right
when day drops out
and in floods night
The lazy breeze picks up a gust
The motherly warmth flights with the dusk
I toss and turn
in the sudden chill
Am so disturbed
by the twilight shrill
Hooting frogmouths and flapping black shadows
pairs of eyes stare from the meadows
Wolves howl in the canyon
Gnats swirl as minions
They dive upon me like daggers
and consume me in gallons
My energy heavily depleted
My sense of peace defeated
All barriers down
as I'm overtaken
I can't get sleep
let alone awaken
And after the crescendo
of the Baroque symphony
Finally there's quiet
Somewhere around three
My enemies dissipate
They've found another home
And I'm finally set adrift
In the Goldilocks Zone
But no sooner it seems
I get to taste my dreams
The sunshine torrent
forces me downstream
To the cliff edge fall
And down I go
Though feels more like up
A loose balloon
caught in a rip
I have no moorings
But I just want rest
It's getting boring
Dear Life,
Is this really
your best?!
