Unspoken

Alone in my head I struggle to breath, the weight of not knowing lays buried beneath.
I fight with my conscience, what's right and what's wrong? Are we better off knowing or should I leave it alone?
What would it help if we all knew the truth. Would we be better off or would a battle ensue.
Hoping is pointless, the best will not come, so instead I'll protect you, allow you to run.
I'll carry this burden, it's all mine to bare. And hope that, please God, you'll remain unaware.
For some things are better off left well alone. It's clear peace of mind I have long since outgrown.
So I'll stay in my head, just me on my own and hope that you're happy out in the unknown.
And if the time comes that you find what is true, please God just remember, it's bigger than you.

Spoken for most....love it..Thank you
Thank you!
I love this - it's syllabically well written, clever in its tone, and captures the moment and the feeling within it. You'd like reading Clive James, 'Sentenced to Life'. One of the best modern syllabic poets of our time. And satirical to boot.
Thank you so much! I'm not a poet by any stretch of the imagination but am finding it a powerful outlet all the same. And I'll definitely be checking out that book, thank you for the suggestion.
