Untitled

The fire was crackling,
it was lighting up the room.
Two empty scotch glasses on the mantle.

It felt so safe and warm there.

She knew it was almost morning, but
she still wished this night would last forever.

His wife would return in the morning and
she knew that meant not knowing when
they would be together again.

She knew he would never belong to her, but
the exquisite pain was too thrilling to care
about anything else.

He made her feel beautiful.
