Vagabond

Vagabond

Vagabond

I walk invisible in summer pathways
among the fells and downs.
Shaded by ancient oak trees
from the relentless naked sun.

Evening shadows replace the sun
still baking the earth the summer heat.
Trees and flowers become silhouettes.
Resplendent in the contrasting moon light.

Then the dew bleeds from the air
commanded to adorn the petals
and leaves of the plant life..
like diamonds in the light

The fragrance of
honeysuckle and wild roses
fall like honey on my bared soul.
It pours  like a cloudburst deluge
on my open raw senses.

Its sweetness cools my throat
and the dry road dust
settles to breathe
its promised hope.
