Variety

The Spice of Life

Complex people may wear many coats, hats and masks

But it is not intended to be deceptive or manipulative or such

They may be judged as "inconsistent"

But how streamlined is Life--actually actually?

Is it not more hypocritical to pretend everything is even keel

Why can't we as humans feel the real

The ups, the downs, the rich aromas

And take detours with a clear conscience

Why can't we make a friend on the other side of the world

Or take up a new interest and let it unfurl

Should we seriously regiment and regime

Why can't we smile and kiss and kick and scream

Surely it's appropriate in summer to eat... you get the point

And perhaps in the winter of life, when you're in great pain, to roll a ...

Well anyway, sometimes life comes with rain

And on otherdays sunshine

We can't be monotone in emotion all the time

Or even address the same points of conversation

Or always get out at the same train station

Am I diabolical if sometimes I catch a bus

Is it necessary for the sum of us that...

I don't shift gears when the hill inclines

Or need to watch the same old rewinds

And if I rotate in different circles

Shall I set up strictest walls and hurdles

Do you think that's fair to our hosts

If we talk to them as deadpan ghosts

There's time and place not to get too animated

But there's also occassion for joys to be celebrated

So please don't condemn me or stifle my style

If I change my tone or content every once in a while

It's not abnormal, manic or irate

It's simply how I like to relate
