The Versatility of my Vernacular Verse

The versatility of my vernacular verse,

Is my adaptability to cope and overcome in this journey of longevity,

But longevity was almost never experienced,

Or even realized,

Because my voyage nearly ended,

Interrupted by helicopter blades whirring,

Hospital machines beeping,

And finally,

Music videos on MTV playing,

This was what I began watching as soon as I awoke,

All the while anticipating a coke,

That my mom had to pour down my feeding tube,

When my feeding tube came out,

My coke had to have thick it mixed in,

Or I would aspirate and choke,

I did not know the reason why I couldn’t swallow any liquid without it backfiring on me,

But I had to appreciate this second try at life,

No matter how difficult it was going to be,

I knew I had to endure,

Was I going to survive all this strife?

Or was I just going to give up and accept defeat?

There was a motivation unknown,

For the creation of Adam’s helpmeet,

A wife made him complete,

Just as is my wife’s love is as solid as concrete,

She makes me complete.
