Victor

Victor

I never took your pittance.
I never bought such fame.
Forgive me for the triumph
and all I had to gain.
Outcast me from your stature
yet wait upon my cries
and yield within my weakness
- may gratitude arise.
Portray the tale so welcome
to patrons - friend or foe.
My triumph and my virtue
fall foul to seeds you sow.
Bequeathed to me, the ruins
a thousand crumbled vows.
A temptress in my castle
whilst you receive the bows.
Yet in my darkest hour
where mercy knows no home
with freedom cast upon me
a victor I've become.
