Vincent van Gogh replies to Don McLean's Starry starry night

Vincent van Gogh replies to Don McLean's Starry starry night

Starry starry night
Words of beauty
Pinks and grey
Sung by sparrows
Blue as day
In melody so sweet
beneath the light,
Across this land your way

You saw my heart in blues and grey
Summer swirls amidst the  pain
Until you found a way to sing again
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
And now I understand
Why you wrote this song for me
How you saw what was inside of me
and your heart sung so free,
In these words you set me free
Like the ghosts inside
 that cry
I did not know why -
Why you felt this way
 ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Starry starry night
Reds and blues
 inside you say
Strings upon a
living day
Cast upon God's light for us to see
Light within me,
Bristles grey and tired lives
Don you bring me merry lines
Upon which to breathe and start again
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
and now I understand
Why You wrote this song for me
Your voice did set me free,
You wrote these words just for me
Like the ghosts inside
 that cry
 ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Starry starry night
Words of beauty
Pinks and grey
Sung by sparrows
Blue as day
In melody so sweet
beneath the light

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

Original

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left in sight
On that starry, starry night
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
You took your life, as lovers often do
But I could've told you Vincent
This world was never meant for
One as beautiful as you
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Starry, starry night
Portraits hung in empty halls
Frame-less heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Like the strangers that you've met
The ragged men in ragged clothes
The silver thorn of bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Now I think I know
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
They would not listen, they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will

Brilliant tribute JAI MASTERS!!...... that's SUCH a great story...... such a great song by Don MacLean....... went to the top of the charts in 1972 .......which he wrote the lyrics for on a paper bag while considering "Vincent"...... his life, his "supposed" insanity........ because he and his brother Theo suffered from the same malady...... so MacLean was suggesting that his was not insanity...... but an inherited condition...... so many great lines in that song......I remember hearing it on the radio ALOT!!.......I LOVE the way you wrote back from Vincent to Don..... just an AWESOME, well conceived, and UNBELIEVABLY well delivered piece of poetic magic and gleaming work brother poet!!......I truly hope this receives the recognition it deserves........ you did an amazing thing here my friend......I will never forget your efforts here JAI MASTERS ........you REALLY put some time in on this......I can see that!!........PINNED and a bucket full of stars!!......thanx so much for this!!...... headin' to You Tube right now to listen to "Vincent" by DonnMacLean!!........high fives!!....... your friend and admirer ........T xo.  ?

My Dear Brother Poet Jai,

Your lovely tribute to Vincent Van Gogh touched me deeply.  Being an Art Dealer and quite versified on his life, inspired me to write a poem about him too.  Thank you for writing such a great work.

Peace and Love,

Larry xxx

P.S.  I'll post it tomorrow.
