Waiting

Waiting

I watched him sit silently
Under the moon
No breeze for the blossoms
No wind chimes for June

The muted green landscape
Was still wet with rain
When five singing angels
Quarreled with the domain

“Oh valley of silence,
Your opera’s been mist.
Won’t you let us unchain you,
From the fountain you’ve kissed?”

I watched him hum loudly
Eyes closed, in the sun
Through the breeze, blossom’s whispered,
“Our life has begun.”
