WAITING FOR A FRIEND

WAITING FOR A FRIEND

I asked the universe
For someone like me
Someone who wouldn't leave
"Is it hard to like me?"
I waited patiently

The universe asked me
To look inside
The places I go to hide
Search in, out and in between
The lines I step beneath my feet

I waited for someone
Who could not be found,
The friend was me,
I knew deep down.
