Wall Up
Wall Up
trust to much,
open up to much,
Shhhh,
don't say to much,
don't you know that not everyone can be trusted!
oh, young girl,
you got a lot to learn,
don't you know some want to just tear you down,
down to your bones,
don't let them get to close!
keep them walls up!
oh, don't you know,
your just gonna hurt yourself now.
don't let them walls down!
your only gonna drown.
keep to yourself,
you know it's better this way,
to keep yourself safe,
give no way,
to no one.

I hesitate before saying this but your poem has the definite feel to me that you are not writing it for someone else but you are writing it to yourself. Almost like a reminder not to give too much of yourself given what it seems has happened before. "Don't let them walls down" is pretty definitive.
Sorry if I got this wrong and you are writing it for someone for whom you are concerned.
You're spot on to be honest,
was trying to do it in a way that wasn't so obvious unless you read it between the lines to realise that they were actually talking about themselves. Reminding themselves that even if they feel like they can trust someone they must keep those walls up no matter what.
Cheers.
They say building walls is not good. Yet they tell us to make sure we have our boundaries in place. Confusing isn't it?
Love your poem x
Think what they mean to have our walls up but to know when we can let at least some of them down while still keeping some boundaries
