Poem -

WAR AND ME

My house will never be the same as it was before
How can it be in the sake of blood and war ?
The roof's been caved in and that's just the start
Everywhere I look is certainly breaking my heart

Is there anything to salvage amongst the debris ?
Something exclusively that once belonged to me
My prayers soon answered hidden behind a brick
Six by four in size on paper both robust and thick

Picked up the photo with my one remaining hand
A family portrait taken on a once pleasant land
Smiles were evident and the sun was shining
Oh for those days once more my heart a pining

War has destroyed everything that I hold dear
As detailed in the poem that I have written here
How will survive the day the week the year
Living in shadows and in such constant fear
