WE!

  WE are drowning in the sweltering heat
The sun shows no mercy, it despises us without reason
Their words ring in our ears and their spit stains our face
WE are told were “worthless mutts that are a poison to this world”
Who are WE you may ask; WE are human, we are black
The color of our skin and the coarseness of our hair is wrong
Our women and men are worshiped in secret yet bashed in the public eye
WE get put up on display for all to see; whispers and stares from every direction
Our backs ache with tremendous pain
So much bending, so many beatings
WE are the white man's ragdoll; But when? How? Why?
We remember the time in our home where we played and laughed
Dance and sang; we grew our own food and everything was shared
We did not have much; still we were happy
Oh yes we remember it; when those huge ships poured in
some of our own people helped cram us into the those disease ridden ships
We watched as we were being stripped away from everything we know by these people who we cant understand
WE pray that this nightmare is going to be over soon; but we know in our hearts that it's only the beginning
We are now slaves and we know that our future generations are succumb to the same fate
