Poem -

We are not our cells

We are not our cells

We are cells upon cells upon cells
Dragging our feet across the sands
Dressing up as humanity
Across these desert lands and
We are not ourselves

Each cell consists of cytoplasm
Nucleic acid and protein
For when they kill by the head, chop
Prokaryotic first cell o'earth it seems
We are not ourselves

Borders keep shifting and
The land mass keeps moving
In this earthquake of humanity
An ancient landmass shifts
For the bacteria have woken

We are not ourselves
Across these desert lands and
Dressing up as humanity
Dragging our feet across the sands
We are cells upon cells upon cells
