Poem -

WE SHALL OVERCOME (MY 2020 VERSION)

He sang three words back in nineteen sixty-threeĀ
We could really do with them now as far as I can see
These three words are powerful there is no doubtĀ
We shall overcome is what I am writing aboutĀ

A folk singer sang them to fight a worthy causeĀ
Could be used today with viruses and wars
We shall overcome dear friend I am certainĀ
However we all must live behind a closed curtainĀ

Staying indoors is the only thing we can doĀ
Respect the doctors in white and nurses in blue
Clap for them as they are on our front lineĀ
As we all hope the world again turns out fine

We shall overcome this let's all be strongĀ
Be positive together and prove this virus wrong

Hello KieranĀ
Who is the singer and what are the 3 words he sang in 1963?!
A poem for our times. Simple and very effective. Loved it x

Hi Pratibha

There have be many versions and covers of this popular folk song " We shall overcome". The most popular version is a 1963 version by a well known folk singer Pete Seeger ….
