Poem -

We Survived Together

We Survived Together

It could have ended.
It had to start.
It had to happen sooner rather than later.
They're approaching nearer. Farther.
Louder. Quieter.

I survived because I was wiser.
You survived because you were clever.
We survived because we were together.
Because we were together we survived.
Because we were apart we died.
Because you turned left. Because I turned right.
Our bodies dropped like rain from the sky.

Drip Drip my blood.
Drip Drip your blood.
Drip Drip our blood that creates a flood, a
River, a lake, a pond, a fountain, a pool, a stream, a
Drink, the sea, a tide.

Because of, thanks to, blamed
For, accused of.
What would happen if we had not went separate ways,Ā
separate paths, separate directions,Ā
separate places by sheer fault.

So we're here?
Straight from a moment of disintegration?
A place only spirits get through, yet we got through it?
There's no end to our bond, our screams, our pain.
Listen
To the sound of screams, shots fired, blood coming out weĀ
Survived, we’re alive except for that one hole in side.
