Wedding Vows

Wedding Vows

I indicate dejection in the ocean of your eyes,
Followed by the tender symphony of my heart.
I admit – it can be poisonous to love.

As often as raindrops fall into rivers,
I will continue to bid your name,
Tarrying and longing in the depths of my desires,
Craving the word ‘mine’ to be forever engraved in my ears,
So I may listen to this personal symphony of hopelessness.

With time,
Petals will fall to the ground, and I will cultivate our garden,
Trying – willingly – to reach the amethyst of your mind.
And when maple tears fall from my emerald eyes,
Drown me in your apathy.

I will dismember memories of yesterday,
To construct the day after tomorrow.

Your touch lights up city lights in my veins,
Turning my breath heavy with blue.
The world ended repeatedly,
But it didn’t matter –
You stood two steps away
Next to the mirror of years gone by.

That's a promise of happiness.
I always will be – beside you.
