Poem -
What Is Beauty?
Is it the skin Iβm in or my soul within?
Is it my intelligence in my head or the curves in my legs?
What do you see when you look at me?
Do you see the manners, respect, and kindness my parents instilled in me?
When you look at me, do you see the God in me?
The smoothness of my skin, hair that blows in the wind, an appealing grin
No, see these are just a part of me.
They are not in me.
When you look at me, what do you see?
Do you see the fullness of my lips or do you see the articulation, enunciation, and pronunciation of words that flow from them?
Do you see the softness of my hands or do you see how they are lifted up to God praying that you will see my true beauty.

Β Beauty takes place in an aesthetic attitude. This is the state of contemplating a subject with no other purpose than appreciating it. For most authors, thus, the aesthetic attitude is purposeless: we have no reason to engage in it other than finding aesthetic enjoyment.
