What do you see when you look at me?
Do you see the cold that's wrapped around my heart?
Or do you see love and a heart that is warm?
Do you see perfection with few minor scars?
Or do you see the faults and the shredded mess?
Do you see beauty?
Or do you see nothing?
Do you see why I am who I am?

What do you see when you look in my eyes?
Do you see blue and happy with light?
Or do you see grey and terrified with dust?
Do you see love and a heart filled with trust?
Or do you see pain and sorrow and rust?

What do you see when you look at my face?
Do you see color and happiness flow?  
Or do you see the tear-streaked madness below?
Do you see the smile, the love, the care?
Or do you see the frown, the pain, the hate?

What do you see when you see me around?
Do you see the smile, the listener, the friend?
Or do you see the fear, the loner, the no one?
Do you see the girl with the care-free silence?
Or do you see the wish behind the hidden face?
Do you see the want to fit in?

Or do you see the hate that covers my skin?
What do you see when you look at me?
Do you see who you want to see?
Or do you see me?
Do you see who I want you to see?
Or do you see what I really am?
Do you see the healed scars and the confidence?
Or do you see the gaping wounds and the aching fear?
