What Might Once Have Been

Dear lord how I do despise myself
                                                                                            these days ..
The space I fill, of simply being me ..
                                                                                           Indeed all of
those lies, that lay now between us
                                                                                          plus all I once
loved, did feel, wonder and see ..
                                                                                         It seems all that
what surely was and truly, might now
                                                                                      well have just been
still, quiet and cruelly, nowt but a dream ..

My Goodness NEVILLE!!......you have captured.... in this most poetic prayer......what so many have felt when reaching those days when true reflection upon one's past weighs so heavily upon the soul of the querent ....that it is the poetry of one's life that comes to the surface.....only so few of us have these poetic words to convey so beautifully.....so mournfully..... the doubts we have about our time spent here upon the earth..... and how we face the fact that death comes steadily.....we fear that all we have loved may be forgotten in the dusts of time and the ravenous nature of life itself!!......Thank you so much for sharing this dear poet brother.....I very much hope that this reaches as many ears, hearts, and minds as possible!!....PINNED for perfection!!.....your cyber-friend and ever admirer......T xo  : )

You really are far too kind Tony T .. but on my absolute word of honour, I am thrilled that you appear to have seen through the inadvertent smokescreen that may have been thrown up by this old fella's literary inadequacies and far beyond such humble words and to the very core of my original intent ............... Yours truly, Neville :)
