When Death Comes At Last

A Collaborative Project by Neptune and Nergal

I'm fading

My eyelids sink into the waters of the deep

Entombing my awareness of your world

Breath searches for blood and cannot find it

The oxygen seeps through my pores and absconds with my life

Like two lovers eloping at a foreign sanctuary

Beyond the horizon where I cannot follow

My voice floats up within the silence of a bubble

Till it bursts into Nirvana far above the limits of my consciousness

I reach for my heart

But that too flows away like milky coral sand

Elijah! Elijah! Why is this happening?

The gate of Bethel has been left ajar

The Devil has stolen my soul!

A cock crows

Though its sound is muted I can sense his declaration

And the shadow of a boat whose name I no longer know

Departs upon a distant wave

Taking with it the light

Now all that's left

Is darkness

WOW!!.....if there were three people/writers contributing here then I think this is amazing....because it's SO hard to co-write in the first place.....but with three writers together......this ROCKS!!......well done dear poets!!......ALL STARS!!.....

Being Me

I had to pin this!  This is just brilliantly written. I love how you wrote in the notes a collaborative project by neptune and nergal because, if I am not mistaken, Neptune is God of the sea and Nergal a Babylonia God of death and war who marries the  Queen of the Underworld. And this whole poem on death and despair bringing in so many beliefs. I absolutely love this poem. Brilliant. Just brilliant x

Yes. Many thanks. I enjoyed the process of embodying those sensations deep in my imagination before exhaling them as text on a page.
