When Doves Cried

When Doves Cried

The gentle doves were flying, one cold and wintry night;

But they stopped and perched their bodies, for they saw a sacred sight!

Another dove was rising, with wings he just had grown;

And even though he was a doggie, such reverence they him showed!

They bowed their heads in tribute, their beaks grew wet with tear;

They touched him when he flew by, for him did they revere!

They knew that just as they were, he was gentle as a dove;

And everyone he crossed paths with, he gave his precious love!

They watched as he lifted up to Heaven, with Angels at his side;

They saw these cherubs too had red cheeks, for also had they cried!

They heard Heaven’s Gate swing open, and saw him ushered in;

Then the gentle doves said “Amen”, his eternal life begins!
