When I read a book

When I read a book

I read a wonderful western book
when a cowboy was stood right infront of me
pointing his pistol at my face
this was very grim to see
So I turned another page of my ‘Lonesome lariat’ book
I hoped with all my heart his gun was gone as I read on to take a look
So now “Crikey Moses” I was galloping on a horse
well I hadn’t ever done this before so I was holding on tight of course
I seemed to be riding bareback without a safety saddle
to save me falling off and harming myself I turned that page to skedaddle

Eeh I put my western book away and placed it high upon a shelf
I didn’t want to be a cowboy
I would definately hurt myself
so I picked up a another hardbacked book this one was a thriller
I was drawn to it’s title of “How to catch a killer”
Well would you ‘Adam and Eve it’
I had only read three pages
Here I was dressed up in pantaloons from the period of the middle ages
And yes I was a murderer with an axe and shield in my hand
I was the most notorious medieval killer in the land
So again I put this awful book back in it’s original place
Along in the history section of the library book case

Huh I wasn’t having much luck enjoying a good read but then I espied a title which should be very nice indeed
“Snow White and the seven dwarves” now this sounded more like me
and yes I knew it was a children’s fairy tale but this is my cup of tea
Ahhh beautiful black-haired Snow White with her seven kind hearted little men
I was halfway through this well-known story when I changed my character again
All of a sudden and from out of the darkest blue
I turned into that wicked step Mother well I didn’t know what to do

I didn’t want to look into the mirror
yet that is exactly what I did
So before I heard the mirror tell me my fate well I closed the book and hid
I don’t read novels very often but on those occasions when I do
My imagination completely gets carried away to how ? or why ? and who ?
I always don the character and it’s just like being in a dream
where nothing at all is just my inventiveness but everything feels extreme
So the best thing for me to do is not to read at all
My visualisation is that vivid at times it almost drives me up the wall
