Poem -

When I was at school 🤣

When I was at school 🤣

I can remember when I was at school
Oh how the teacher’s were so darn right cruel

Kids wouldn’t believe what went on back in my day

Tho I reckon it taught us discipline
It didn’t do us any harm in a way

Crikey moses I would be sat minding my own business in the classroom

When from out-of-the-blue there would be an almignty ZOOM!!!

Mrs Clements, one of our form teachers,
she would pick-up the hard black board eraser

Then direct it where she wanted and throw it like a quasar

Well it didn’t necessarily hit the kid that she meant, though she threw that weapon with ill intent

God help the nipper that it did contact, It would hurt like hell and that is a fact

Abuse was common from teacher’s in our school, It was part of normality so very usual as a rule

I myself wasn’t immune, coz I got pelted with a silver spoon

I wouldn’t care but it wasn’t aimed at me, I was sat behind the lad where it had supposed to be

Well this silver spoon hit the top of my arm, I had a bruise for a while so it did cause harm

Our head teacher, Mr Sampy used to knuckle us on the head, now this was something we all did dread

He would use his fist if you get my gist, Mercy me this hurt like hell and for nothing at all I got this as well!!

But strangely enough I admired our teachers, It was just what life was like back then
Yet I can’t say it did us any harm
It probably made the boys to be men

We looked up to our elders, treated them with respect

There was none of today’s health and safety nor Politically correct

We played outside in the dirt till it was dark, kicking balls on the roads and hanging out in the park

It’s a darn right shame for the children of today, they don’t have the life we had

Freedom with clean fresh air..but nowadays they are stuck indoors which is so bad…

days in school

who pulled your ear
took you all aroud the class
boy that hurt or if could
be put in the corner
faceing the wall
or be put in the closet
with door closed
and dont chew gum
or it gets put on
your nose i could go on
thing they did back then

Hello JILL!!.....well this dives into several different issues and points of interest......suffice it for me to say that Yes Indeed.....life as a child back then was MUCH different......respect for elders was absolute......I heard of abusive teachers but fortunately (or unfortunately) for me I grew up on military bases the world over and there was NO abuse that I could see.....but religion was much more prevalent in the classroom then......I could go on & on with all that this poem stirs up in me.....this poem came across for me as POWERFUL memories that definitely deserve some exploration.......and compelling as hell!!.....ALL STARS!!.....the abuse from teachers is understated here.....in my most humble opinion.......I just feel there is much more room for writing on this subject matter my friend.......food for thought eh?.......LOVE & ROCKETS!!.....T xo  : )
