When Motown Meets The Blues

With your eyes
you see the shadows
of the dark, deep within my soul
you see me
even when I don't feel whole
you see my every flaw
when I cannot see myself
you see me
even when I've closed the door
when all the light
is shaded by the dark
and when, even in my best mood
the clouds remain
soaking me in misery
to the point I am drowning
suffocating lungs filled with soot
I will try my best to stand tall
a woman isn't always easy to see
but you see me
with your eyes
you see the sparkles
of light deep within my soul
you see me at my best
you see me, when I reach my goals
a woman isn't always easy to see
but you see me
you really do
and
that's when...
Motown meets the Blues.

Lovely poem x
Good morning dear Being Me, so very kind of you to come by and say. Thank you. 🌹
Hello Shirley...
Black people used to tell me I can't listen to Black Music because, I'm not Black...
I have a few scars to prove it...
When I called prejudice I didn't get it...
There's another scar...
Great write!
Thank you for sharing...

Thank you dear sparrowsong, where I was born we are such a varied cultural society that nobody ever noticed any of that, Billie Holiday is one of my favourite jaz and blues singers, and if nothing else music should bring us all together. Thank you 🌹
Hello Shirley...
It's ok...
They probably saved me a lot of Money...
I used to buy a lot of Record Albums...
I would have only bought a lot more...
It's was for my own good I'm sure Sis...
