Poem -

When You Ask Me What I'm Counting

I have only One heart to give you, and
one moment at a time.
But that heart powers Two eyes
that bless me with your smile
in each moment.
Each smile lends me Three more
breaths-to breathe you in
and breathe you out, and in again.
Each new breath gives Four tears
two because you're happy
two because you do not know
That I would give you this One heart,
And these Two eyes,
And all my Breath.
Just to hold your hand with these
Five fingers
for this One moment of time.
