WHISKY IN THE MORNING

The bedside clock showed just after four
No sleep during the night he knew for sure
Stumbled down his stairs in a wobbly haze
Whisky on the sideboard caught his gaze

Took the dirtiest cleanest glass from the sink
Whisky in there before he had time to think
Four in the morning is a most lonely time
Drinking whisky is certainly no crime

Knocked the drink back in only one swallow
Filled a void and also it filled a hollow
Went back upstairs and laid on his bed
The whisky now messing with his head

Sleep deprivation and whisky is a lethal mix
He thinks it's the answer to a short term fix
Just be careful would be my advice to he
For an example dear man just look at me
