Who Could Understand?

Who could understand
The fear in her eyes
That sliced words in her wrists
Just to numb the holes in her heart?
Emotions ate up her soul,
And not so carefully so,
Tore her world apart.
Then the acid tears and bitter years
Eroded the hope from her eyes,
And the demons she kissed
And the satanists she missed
Made her feel rotten and sly.
But the angels that died
Eroded her sides
And she felt guilty when she couldn't cry.
So she laughed at the pain
That kept her awake
Until she was empty inside

Deep!
Thank you!
Dear Anna,
The map that I'm using to find poets on this site is based on those who I find on my "followers" list- and so far it's a reliable guide. This poem is deep and beautiful and sad- but in the end, it is powerful because your heroine is still alive to speak to us about her humanity- which is nothing to be ashamed of. I can understand because part of me is attracted to what others consider sin. Thank you.
