Wild Flower

I don't live in moments...

Wild Flower

"I don't live in moments
Moments live in me.."
This Is what my dear friend
Recently said to me

At first the wisdom was lost
Like pouring perfume on a pig
Or acid from a large dropper
Into the eyes of poor old Syd

At first the fuses burned
An electric acrid smell
But soon I understood the logic
Behind the diagnosis of a living hell

Losing movement every day
To a disease called MND
Such an injustice and imbalance...
Such a tragedy

Yet his smile is still contagious
But I see the truth behind his eyes
Even the most beautiful wild flowers
Slowly wither and die

Such a hard hand dealt
To a man so bold and brave
Too many tragedies in one life
Too many flowers surrounding graves

Thank you for your kind comment Greg. Very much appreciated, it is inspired by a dear friend of mine who has had a rotten run of luck in life. Although you would not think it. He's certainly a diamond in the rough.

Take care  - Syd

Hello Syd,
I am so sorry to read about your friend. Motor Neurone Disease is a horrible thing to have, and to watch someone suffer with. Your poem is a touching tribute to your friend. Acknowledging his struggles but recognising the man he was and still is deep inside. There are no words that I can say that can possibly ease the pain caused by this awful disease. All I can say is thank goodness he has a good friend like you to be a voice for him, and to have someone still see the man he will always be deep down, despite the struggles he faces

Much love to your friend ❤

Thank you for your very kind comment Gewn. We are very close friends but being the man he is, he also has a wide circle of friends. We have been doing lots of fundraiser events for renovations to his house. The government couldn't care less so we've all clubbed together and raised a few thousand pounds that he deserves.

Take care  - Syd x
